Distro Media is pleased to announce that PulseMCP, an influential industry registry that tracks AI-enabled apps and tools, has granted a listing to our pioneering connector, Distro Publisher – a milestone as news distribution gets reinvented for the AI era.
Distro Publisher allows anyone to easily use AI chatbots and agents including Claude Desktop and ChatGPT to file, edit and publish drafts of their stories on the DistroVerse publishing platform.
For AI developers, getting listed in these registries is the modern equivalent of getting an app listed in an app store.
Our research suggests that we are the first independent, purpose-built news publishing platform to get a listing of this type on PulseMCP.
Distro Publisher is a key component in the agentic press, a new model of publishing that we believe many if not most journalists will be using to file their stories within a few years' time. Distro founder and CEO Bradley Keoun is the inventor of the agentic press, as well as the agentic newsstand, which allows publishers to sell single premium articles and reports directly from their AI chatbots or agents using low-cost micropayments.

'The USB-C of AI'
Distro Publisher is technically an MCP server, built pursuant to the Model Context Protocol, an open standard supported by major AI developers like Anthropic, OpenAI and Google.
Some people refer to MCP servers as the "USB-C of AI," since they are the software equivalent of universal cables used to hook up an extra video monitor or audio speaker to a laptop computer. On the Claude Desktop app, MCP servers are called "connectors," and on ChatGPT, they're known as "apps."
Anyone with the technical wherewithal can list an MCP server on the open-source Model Context Protocol registry, and PulseMCP auto-ingests entries from the official registry. But PulseMCP processes the entries and categorizes the MCP servers in a way that they can be easily searched, sorted and filtered on a consumer-friendly user interface – why we consider them so important.
Distro Publisher is categorized as an "official" MCP server under PulseMCP's methodology, indicating that we created it for our own app. That's an indicator that we stand behind it, and that it's immune from open-source hazards such as prompt injections.
We're also considered a "remote" MCP server under PulseMCP's classification system, meaning it's super easy for a user with an account on DistroVerse to install on their Claude Desktop or ChatGPT desktop apps.
"You literally just have to copy and paste a URL," Keoun said. "That's it. It really is that easy."
After installation, a publisher could simply type, "File this story on my Distro newslode," paste in the copy, and the AI tool would work in conjunction with the MCP server to take care of the details.
"I've been using it personally for a few months now, and I can tell you that as a user of professional CMSs for almost three decades, it works really well, saves a ton of time and is insanely cool," Keoun said.
