Cuban floats 'AI token tax' to encourage energy savings, raise $10B

Billionaire investor Mark Cuban is pitching a U.S. tax on AI usage as a way of encouraging industry players to save energy, while raising federal government revenue to address any deleterious effects from the technology.

He proposed the tax in a May 15 post on X. The tax should be less than $0.50 per million tokens processed, a level he projects would raise $10 billion a year.
