Following revelations of just how powerful the AI company's new Mythos model is reported to be, members of the U.S. government level have raised alarms that the traditional financial system could face heightened risks from hackers.

Crypto infrastructure may be similarly at risk, reports CoinDesk's Margaux Nijkerk.

The development could focus risk audits away from the current focus on smart-contract bugs toward a broader range of attack vectors.

"That includes key management systems, signing services, bridges, oracle networks, and the cryptographic layers that connect them," Nijkerk wrote. "These components are less visible than smart contracts and are often outside traditional audit scope."
